Susan Kozomara

Susan Claire Kozomara born August 17^th 1942, was a dashing woman with a contagious laugh, courageous and generous heart, who had invested her life in helping others, finally parted from this earthly plane on June 29th, 2009 at the tender age of 66.

In this iteration of her existence she was joined by her love and cohort, Momcilo Kozomara who she cared for and devoted her life to until his passing on October 30, 2004. Together they raised three loving and charismatic children, who honor their parents by virtue of their actions.

Their son, John Arthur Vannucchi of Raleigh, North Carolina, two daughters, the free spirited Zorka Christine Kozomara and the serious and silly Milica Kata Kozomara. Her life is also celebrated by her son’s wife, Heather Little of Raleigh, NC, a horde of beautiful grandchildren, Eric Vannucchi, Lisa Vannucchi, Mina Rose Vannucchi and Luna Rose Little, a soon-to-be son-in-law Scott Lopez, countless loving friends, and extended family around the world.

With the same love, concern and interest she showed her own children, she cared for many others (young and old) who looked to her for inspiration and guidance. Susan was blessed to spend the last 15 months of her life with a kindred companion, Daniel Remback, who shared her unconventional views of life and love.

A staple in the Chicago neighborhoods of North Park and Ravenswood for 40 years, Susan was a stranger to no one and a friend to everyone. She lived each day as a celebration of life and treated each person as a precious gift. She would insist that you not mourn her passing, but yet celebrate the years lived, the memories shared and carry on her work, spread the love to those around you. Her family requests that you rejoice in her life and all the gifts she left to the world around her.

Helping Zorka’s Family pt 2.

Recently I started taking donations to help Zorka and her family as they deal with the death of their mother. I am also aware that times are tight and nothing is free. So in a effort to increase donations I have decided to eat one nasty ass item for every 1000 dollars that is raised to help her family. If you are not familiar with these challenges you can check out my blog here and here. I am heading to the Grand Asian Market to find the most weirdest and most vile (by American standards anyway) item I can locate. Once we hit a grand, I eat, photograph and document. You laugh till you pee, Zorka’s family gets the help they need. More updates to come…

Helping Zorka and her family!

As many of you know Zorka’s mother, Susan Kozomara, passed away rather suddenly June 29th in Chicago. The morning of the 29th Zorka received a call that her mother was in the ER and was being moved into ICU due to heart arrhythmia. Ultimately Susan’s heart stopped and she continued her journey away from this existence. For those of you who were giving heart, her positive and affirming attitude and her ability to be mother to all she met.

Yesterday I wrote this on Facebook and I honestly think it sums it all up.

Susan was a beautiful woman with an enormous heart and a towering spirit. She had conviction that life was a journey with purpose, she truly was one of this worlds few spectacular and glorious beings and the world is better by her hand.

Many of you have expressed interest in how to help Zorka or where you can send flowers etc for the funeral. If you would like to help in anyway, her family is accepting donations to help with travel expenses and time off work. Zorka will be in Chicago for several weeks with no income and I am sure she would appreciate any assistance you can offer. As always fell free to re-post, stumble and digg.
